Is there anything for which you would give up your life?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 29, 2008:

I don't understand the question: Give up my life meaning "devote my life to . . ." or give up my life meaning "attempt something and die in the process."

On my business card it says, "It is harder to live by our beliefs than it is to die for them."

Dying for what we believe is easy and  part of the problem -- not part of the solution.  How you gonna "be the change you want to see in the world," IF you dead?

Everyone I know would risk their lives to save a child from getting run over by a bus, but most of us aren't actively doing anything to stop the day-to-day misery, poverty, and crime that is presently harming our own children, like war, global warming, the current imaginary financial crisis and drugs.  Is this ignorance, or insanity?
